My story.
Kirk Gooden is a Consultant Urologist at the Port of Spain General Hospital and an Associate Lecturer with the University of the West Indies. He graduated from the University of the West Indies, Mona in 1999 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. During his time at the University he obtained several scholarships, including the Marcus Garvey Scholarship, a Canadian scholarship, and a Jamaican Scholarship.
After completing his MBBS he did internship at the Kingston Public Hospital, Bustamante Hospital and Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Jamaica. He subsequently worked at Cornwall Regional Hospital, Jamaica, rotating through Anaesthetics and several surgical specialities including General Surgery, Orthopaedics and Urology. It was at this stage of his career that he fell in love with Urology.
In 2007 he travelled to Trinidad to commence the Doctor of Medicine in Urology programme at the San Fernando General Hospital. In 2010 he successfully completed the DM Part 1 exam and was awarded the British Journal of Urology International Scholarship. In 2016 he completed his speciality and was awarded the Doctor of Medicine in Urology.
He has authored and co-authored abstracts and publications. He is a member of the Caribbean Urological Association, Trinidad and Tobago Urological Association and American Urological Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Caribbean College of Surgeons. Dr. Gooden has a special interest in uro-oncology and endourology.
Dr. Gooden provides medical and surgical treatment for disorders and diseases of the male and female urinary tract, including kidney, bladder, prostate, penile and testicular cancers, urinary tract infection, erectile dysfunction, infertility, stone disease of the urinary system, enlarged prostate and many other genitourinary disorders.
He is happily married with two beautiful daughters. His great compassion is to bring healing to people and ultimately to the nation with the help of Almighty God. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, watching sport and spending time with his family.
